OH
MY
GOOD
GOD
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have NEVER seen so much yarn in one place. I have never seen almost every color of Manos del Uruguay, Cascade, Lamb's Pride, AND Lorna's Laces in one place at one time before.
I visited Ewe Knit Kits in Virginia Beach. It was a little hard to find (drove right past it the first time because it's hidden in a small shopping plaza that looks to be mainly real estate offices.) But once I got there ... WOW. Amazing selection of not just yarn, but books, patterns, and needles. The staff were friendly but very busy, so I won't hold the distracted customer service against them (there must have been 20 people in there.) It was also John's first time in a yarn store with me .... and that was fun. I got a better idea of colors that he likes ( I think his socks are gonna be Lorna's Laces.) It was so cool ... he was feeling yarn and looking around with me. He said my eyes lit up and I looked like a kid in a candy shop!
I had to budget and pace myself, but with out further interuption ... YARN PORN!!!!
In the back is Berroco Ultra Alpaca; 215 yds; worsted weight; color # 6284. It's a purple with some heathered marroon.
Next are two skeins of Lorna's Laces; 200 yds/skein; sport weight; color #74 (Mother Lode). Purples, yellows, marroons, greens.
Lastly, in the front, is my FAVORITE yarn ... Manos del Uruguay (two skeins); 138 yds/skein; worsted/bulky weight; color #100. Varigated from light to dark pinks!
OY! I had to rip myself away before I spent anymore.... and I know I spent more then I should have. But I had some money stashed away for this mini-vacation, and you know what ... I needed to enjoy myself, which by the way, always includes buying yarn!
So please, if you are ever in VA Beach, you MUST NOT leave without visiting that yarn store!
I've really gotten into this Swap-Bot website. I've been having a lot of fun with it, getting cool stuff, sending cool stuff, and making a few new friends along the way.
My most recent hosted swap is Autumn Skiens. I'm finishing up with the chop stick swap, and it should be about the time when people are getting things. There are a few people who signed up who have lower rating then I first thought, so I know now what I didn't know at the start .... put a little note in the sign up info stating that if you have a rating lower then 3, don't even sign up. And if you do, I will boot your ass from the swap.
It's just not fair to the rest of us. Now, first time swapers, that's all well and good. But if you are one of these people who sign up only to get things, get lost. Seriously.
And I just want to get this moving over and done with. I've been in a royally crappy mood the last couple days because of lack of sleep. And other things ... my own demons mainly and trying to keep them at bay at a time of stress (ie, the moving). They like to creep out and take advantage of my psyche when I'm the least bit vulnerable. So, of course, John has seen more of my crankiness then I care to share with him. But, I guess he does have to see it at some point. No sense candy coating my depression at it's weaker and more obtuse moments. So, Sugar, if you're reading this .... it'll be much better when I get home for good. Just bare with me.
